What we source
Inductors and magnetics
Magnetics are often built to order, so a discontinued value can mean a long new build. We look for existing traceable stock of the exact part first, which is usually faster.
Where this comes up
When a magnetics part is discontinued, the usual answer is a new custom build with qualification testing and a long lead time. For repairs, spares and lab work, existing traceable parts from manufacturer or OEM excess are often the better route, and we look there first. If no traceable stock exists, we tell you so instead of offering a lookalike.
What we find
- Power and signal inductors
- Common-mode and EMI chokes
- Power, audio and pulse transformers
- RF coils
Specifications buyers ask for
- MIL-PRF-27
- transformers and inductors: audio, power and high-power pulse
- MIL-PRF-21038
- pulse transformers
What to put in your RFQ
- The manufacturer or military part number
- Inductance, current rating and package if there is no part number
- Quantity and any date-code limit
- Whether the part is built to your company's drawing
- Termination and mounting style
Send part numbers, not drawings
Many magnetics are built to a customer's source-control drawing. We can work from the part number. Please do not send drawings marked as Controlled Unclassified Information: we do not accept CUI. A part number and a quantity are enough to start the search.
How we source
- Authorized stock first. We buy from authorized distributors wherever they hold stock.
- Manufacturer and OEM excess, with purchase paperwork back to an authorized source.
- Qualified independent sources only after they pass our questionnaire. Their parts are tested at an independent lab before they ship, unless you tell us in writing not to.
What ships with your order
- Blue Horizon certificate of conformance, signed
- Manufacturer and supplier paperwork back to the source
- Manufacturer lot and date codes, plus our internal lot code
- The test report, when parts were tested
One line per part is fine. We screen every customer and classify every part before quoting.
